Completed Student Project
During his junior year, Nate Kelly designed and built a Power Take Off (PTO) shield for use in the Nebraska Tractor Test Lab. Nate is from Page, Nebraska, and works as a student technician for the lab while studying Mechanized Systems Management in the Biological Systems Engineering Department.
The shield offers protection from any shaft failures that could occur during PTO tests. The shield manually extends and retracts to compensate for the removal and installation of the PTO shaft, and also lifts up and down to accommodate different sized tractors. Nate's design maintains a safer work environment for staff, student workers, and company representatives. |
